Dance with a Flower in Your Hair, by Tony Faehse

DANCE with a Flower in Your Hair will take the over-40s back and the under-40s forward to what might just be a next big thing. The mix of vocal and instrumental tracks sound fresh and new but also familiar, with guitarist extraordinaire Tony Faehse and his fine band of musicians paying homage to styles ranging from Samba, to indie-pop to Celtic folk.

Northcote residents might know Faehse as the bloke who sells retro stuff from his High St antique shop but he is also the guitarist who toured Europe in the 1970s with glam-rocker Alvin Stardust and played and wrote songs with Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons at their peak.

Standout tracks include the funky flamenco Come with me, down to the sea and the title track. Faehse proves he can also sing, on tracks such as Little boxes. This wonderfully uplifting album would enhance any CD collection.

Tony Faehse 'Dance With A Flower In Your Hair'

Former Jo Jo Zep And The Falcons guitarist / songwriter continues his flirtations with acoustic latin music on his third solo release.
Faehse's classical and Spanish guitar roots set the agenda for the brilliant ensemble playing featured on vocal and instrumental tracks that range from tangos, sambas, flamenco to pop and a latin flavoured vocal duet (Diana Clark and Rob Price).
Faehse's guitar virtuosity compliments his skill as an arranger evidenced by the thoughtful use of violin and viola (Jen Anderson) accordion (George Butrumlis) Bruce Haymes' keyboards and splashes of flute, trumpet and bamboo flute.
Sophisticated original music, beautifully performed.
